The 10.5 upgrade comes as 2 DVD´s
MAXON announced release 10.5 in October 2007 making it 12 months since Release 10 came out. In the past few years MAXON has brought out a .5 upgrade the following year so many people were expecting an upgrade around about this time although like in 2006 Maxon chose not to make any announcement at Siggraph but waited I assume until the update was ready for distribution.
Point .5 updates traditionally don´t bring radical new enhancements or features with these being left to the full number upgrade. However there´s some enhancements like X-Refs, Mocca / Character Animation new deformers and tools plus the Lighting tool that are pretty significant. There´s lots of minor enhancements, tweaks etc. Some arguably that should have been in Release 10.0 but at least they´re here now. In addition there´s a superb Character Animation tutorial DVD but more on that later. MAXON has also fixed some bugs that didn´t make it into the 10.1 update earlier this year and some of the bugs fixed were major bugs and we´ll mention some of them during the review.
